Upcoming Cooking Classes in the Poconos that You’ll Love
On the second Sunday of each month, we will be hosting a cooking class in the boiler room of Hawley Silk Mill. Classes begin at 2 p.m. and are led by professional pastry chef, Julia Kent. During these classes, you’ll learn how to create incredibly delicious pastries and holiday sweets while sipping on tasty cocktails and other beverages. 1. Be My Valentine (February 11th)
Nothing says romance quite like baking a dessert with your loved one! Each couple will learn how to make their own tartlet, chantilly cream, and spun sugar. Of course, a sparkling beverage will be included to enjoy during your class. ($39/Person).
2. What Do I Cook With All this Beer? (March 11th)
We have enough beer to make even an Irishman blush! You and your friends and family can learn how to incorporate St. Patrick’s Day beer into a four-course dinner. As you’re cooking, feel free to sip on a complimentary Irish brew. Cheers to that! ($39/Person).
3. Build Me Up Buttercup (April 8th)
If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to create the beautiful tiered cakes you see on TV, now is your chance! Chef Julia Kent will show you her best techniques to assemble and decorate a cake you can be proud of. A delicious cocktail will also be included! ($49/Person).
4. Moms, Muffins, and Mimosas (May 13th)
Consider this the best Mother’s Day gift ever! We guarantee she’ll love learning how to make mouth-watering pastries and enjoying mimosas with you. It’s a great way to celebrate Mom while satisfying your sweet tooth. ($39/Person).
5. Cookie Time (June 10th)
This summer cooking class is perfect for the whole family! You’ll learn the basics of hands-on cookie making from our own professional pastry chef. Cocktails will also be available for adults while milk is given out to the kids. ($24/Adults | $16/Kids).
6. Red, White, and Blueberries (July 8th)
Make this summer one to remember at this 4th of July themed cooking class! You’ll gain hands-on experience is creating delectable blueberry pie and other summer favorites. A refreshing cocktail is also included! ($39/Person).
7. Killer Cupcakes (August 12th)
Cupcakes are a quick and delicious treat to create, but now you can make them even better! During this class, you’ll learn how to bake and decorate outstanding cupcakes that will wow all your friends and family! Plus, you’ll also be able to enjoy a cupcake vodka cocktail. Yum! ($39/Person).
8. BIENVENUE À PARIS: (Welcome to Paris) (September 9th)
You don’t have to travel all the way to Paris to learn how to make the perfect croissant. All you need is to attend this cooking class, and Chef Julia will teach you everything you need to know about baking classic French bread. Of course, Champagne is also included! ($39/Person).
9. Truffles Galore (October 14th)
Truffles, truffles, truffles! Who doesn’t like truffles? During this demonstration, you’ll learn the basics of crafting incredible truffles that you’ll want to make again and again! ($49/Person).
10. Venison (November 11th)
Led by Chef Travis Lugo, this class will demonstrate five ways to cook deer meat to perfection. What’s even better? Attendees will dine as Chef Travis cooks! ($39/Person).
11. Shake Up Your Holidays (December 9th)
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! This hands-on mixology class will show you how to make your own original and unique holiday cocktails with food pairings. As you cook, you’ll be able to enjoy a complimentary cocktail. It’s the perfect way to kickstart your holiday season and bring the year to a close! ($39/Person).

More About Chef Julia Kent
Julia Kent is an extremely talented pastry chef who is responsible for all the tasty cakes and pastries at Mill Market Bakery! Her talents are so widely recognized that she was recently selected to create a Walking Dead cake for the actors and actresses of the series. In September 2017, she was also chosen to bake an extraordinary cake for actress Katrina Law from Arrow at the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest.
