How Cocoon Coffee House Got Its Name

Hawley Silk Mill was built in 1880 and operated until 1956. Today, it is still the largest laid bluestone building in the world. While its role as a silk mill has been retired, the building now serves the Hawley, PA, community as a thriving lifestyle center. A small structure is nestled directly in front of the building and once housed the cocoons that were used to produce silk. Today, you’ll find the cocoon shelter has been completely transformed into a cozy coffee shop named Cocoon Coffee House and Bakery. The moniker pays homage to the structure’s original purpose.
