Spend a Day on Lake Wallenpaupack
52 miles of shoreline and more than 5,700-acres of water to explore make up Lake Wallenpaupack, a prime summertime destination. In fact, it is the 3rd largest lake in Pennsylvania! If you’re hoping to lay back and relax, you can find a warm and sunny spot along the shore and lounge the day away. For the more adventurous visitors, parasailing, water skiing, kayaking, and even jet-skiing is available on Lake Wallenpaupack! You can find many of the lake’s water rentals and activities at the Silver Birches Resort Recreation Center.
Hike to the Waterfalls
Did you know that some of the largest and most beautiful waterfalls in the eastern U.S. are found within a short drive of Hawley Silk Mill? Triple W Riding Stable in nearby Honesdale is located on the highest point in the area. This means that you’ll find some of the most beautiful views in the Poconos on their trails. The friendly instructors take extra care to match you with your perfect horse for a safe and fully enjoyable excursion. Horseback overnight camping trips are one of the best things to do in the Poconos at night and are perfect for warm summer evenings!
Walking Tour of Downtown Hawley
If you’re in need of a leisurely stroll but don’t have the time for a refreshing hike in the mountains, the 2-mile walk in Downtown Hawley may be just what you need! Along the way, you’ll find several quintessential Hawley landmarks including Bingham Park, several historic buildings, and quaint shops.
Attend Wally Lake Fest
This end-of-summer bash is one of Hawley’s most highly anticipated events! The weekend festival is hosted by the Downtown Hawley Partnership and filled to the brim with fun-filled activities in locations all over Hawley! You can expect plenty of things to do on and off the water including a boat parade, market fairs, watercraft and ATV expo, unique vendors, and much more! The dates for the 2017 Wally Lake Fest are set for August 25th-27th, so be sure to include it in your calendar!
