Whether you are a seasoned pro or a beginner, there is a hill that caters to your skill level. Lessons are also offered at the Ski Big Bear Sports School so you may learn to get the most out of your experience.

2. Explore Promised Land State Park

Approximately 3,000 acres in size, Promised Land State Park is a utopia for outdoor winter activities. This season, the 50 miles of hiking trails will transform into a winter wonderland. This provides the perfect opportunity for exploration and, of course, irresistible photos. You may also enjoy traditional winter activities such as ice skating, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing!

3. Eagle-Watch With the Delaware Highland Conservancy

Bald eagles are one of the world’s most beautiful and mysterious creatures, and you have the chance to see them in their natural habitat. The Delaware Highland Conservancy is a non-profit organization based in Hawley and Bethel, NY that is dedicated to land protection. Usually held in January and February, the eagle-watching tours transport visitors on a heated bus to some of the area’s most popular viewing locations. Trained guides also provide in-depth information and answer any questions you may have throughout the tour.

4. Ice Skating at Bingham Park

Bingham Park is an idyllic public space located across from The Settlers Inn. During winter an ice skating rink is constructed on the ballfield. The ice measures 100 x 50 feet. It is available for open skates (excluding hockey) daily from dawn to dusk weather permitting. Bring along your skates for a glide in a picturesque outdoor setting within walking distance of historic downtown Hawley.
